Abstract

Insulin resistance in HIV infected patients on antiretroviral therapy (ART) is associated to the presence of Pro12Ala polymorphism, a common genetic variation observed in 13% of caucasian population; insulin resistance is also related to an increased weight, a prolonged ART, and also HIV/HCV coinfection.

Learning objectives

Genetic factors may modulate insulin resistance in HIV patients on ART
