Johannes Oldenburg obtained his clinical and scientific education at the Institute of Experimental Hematology and Transfusion Medicine, University of Bonn, and the Institute of Human Genetics, University of Wuerzburg. In 1998 he achieved his postdoctoral dissertation. He has established working groups for \"Molecular Hemostasis\" at the Universities of Bonn, Würzburg and Frankfurt. So far more than 150 publications and several scientific awards including the Alexander Schmidt and the Paul Martini Awards resulted from projects addressing the molecular basis of blood coagulation with a focus on haemophilia and the vitamin K metabolism. From 2001 to 2005 he directs the Departments of Immunohaematology and Molecular Haemostasis at the DRK Institute of Transfusion Medicine and Immunohaematology in Frankfurt. In August 2005 he became Professor and Director of the Institute of Experimental Haematology and Transfusion Medicine and the Haemophilia Center at the University Clinic Bonn.
