Carlos Roncero Alonso is a psychiatrist who has specialized in drug dependence and dual diagnosis patients. He has co-worked with Dr Casas, Full Professor of Psychiatry and Chairman of the Psychiatry Department of the Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron, which is very focused in drug dependence patients.
Now Dr. Roncero is leading the outpatient clinic for drug-dependent patients of the Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron in Barcelona. His work includes a clinical position and he is involved in research trials for developing and checking new drugs for dependence patients.
He has written 70 articles, in Spanish and English, and 73 book chapters. He is co-editor of six books, about psicopharmacology of drug dependences, the bipolar dual diagnosis patients, Cannabis, opiate treatments, dual diagnosis and the last one is about intervention in dual diagnosis patients (Schizophrenia and dual diagnosis).
From May 2007, he is member of the board of the Spanish Society of Dual Diagnosis (Sociedad Española de Patología Dual) and from may 2008 he is Vicesecretary of this Society.
He teaches psychiatry in the position of Associate Lecturer of Psychiatry of the Department of Psychiatry and Forensic Medicine of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. He has been a teacher in multiple courses for university students, doctors in training, psychiatrists and general practicioners.
