Gunta Lazdane is an obstetrician and gynaecologist, Ph.D and has been Professor, Head of University Department in Riga Stradina University, Latvia. Since 2003 she is working in the WHO Regional Office for Europe as the Regional Adviser for Reproductive Health and Research in the Country Policies and Systems unit, Division of Country Health Systems. She is assisting 53 WHO Member States in the European Region to improve sexual and reproductive health of population.
G.Lazdane has been the President of Latvia’s Association for Sexual and Reproductive Health “Papardes zieds” for several years and the Chairperson of the Membership Committee of International Planned Parenthood Federation. She was representing Latvia in ICPD, UN GA on ICPD+5 and the Forth World Conference on Women in Beijing.
She is the Chief Editor of the European Magazine on Sexual and Reproductive Health Entre Nous and member of several Editorial Boards of peer review journals.
